Sean Carroll 2019 AU/NZ Tour: Our Preposterous Universe

Sean Carroll is a world-renowned theoretical physicist that specializes in quantum mechanics. He was also the physics consultant for Avengers: End Game! Think Inc brought him over for his debut Australian and New Zealand tour called: “Our Preposterous Universe”  to discuss parallel universes, quantum theory and cosmology.

THE BRIEF: Illustrate, design and animate the master artwork for Sean Carroll’s tour. Include Sean’s accolades and media presence and try and reach a sci-fi audience. 

THE EXECUTION: I’m not gonna lie. Quantum physics is fascinating and I will always feel empty inside when I think about parallel universes or the many worlds theory. With the overall look and feel of this artwork – I wanted to evoke the old-school book covers of science text books. Firstly – the typeface (ITC Benguiat) is almost painfully relevant, being the master typeface for Stranger Things, a show dealing with ideas of parallel universes.

The head motif (which features in a lot of my work) duplicated into infinity is a reference to parallel universes (an area in quantum physics that Sean Carroll examines closely) , where different versions of oneself may exist. 

On top of this, for the animation –  I tied up all of the imagery with synth-wave track.
